The Global Membership Health Matrix is the first of its kind, independent research focused solely on the “voice of the member”. The research is administered globally, leveraging the collective power and reach of our partner organizations.
This research will document members’ perspectives and take the pulse of how members think of different association practices and provide insights on how associations can help them better.
It will provide the guidance associations and membership organizations desperately need to stop declining memberships and engage existing members better.
Association health and growth matter to us. We want to create a healthy ecosystem where associations and membership organizations thrive. To do so we need to understand what association members think of associations’ membership practices.
This study aims to establish a Global Membership Health Matrix that will provide the guidance associations and membership organizations desperately need right now.
The Global Membership Health Matrix will present globally representative research across organization types and industries, sizes, and geographies.
The 2022 Global Membership Health Matrix survey is being conducted among a representative group of members across the following eight countries: the US, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines, India, Canada, UAE, and the Netherlands.
The “member-voices survey” is designed to provide detailed regional and global member-based values and needs information to understand better the acute wants and needs of today’s more diverse membership communities. We will segment and cross-section survey data both multi-generationally and by career-stage regionally and globally.
The data collected from each of the studies will be used to determine the overall health and sustainability of associations and membership organizations regionally, globally, and by industry.
This study is designed to quickly and effectively measure industry culture and workplace talent engagement and recruiting gaps that threaten the sustainability of industries, workplaces, and the future of membership for associations and membership organizations. Information will be segmented multi-generationally, by career stage, regionally, globally, and industry.
We will identify gaps in the current workplace environment and what is fueling turnover and how the current industry narrative and workplace practices are potentially impacting the future talent pipeline and the future of association membership.
This individual organization study is a great opportunity and tremendous value for associations to receive their own membership health report for $1,500 USD.
Organizations will receive a tailored report following the findings from survey data designed to effectively measure their association’s health and sustainability in key areas, including but not limited to association culture, membership continuity amongst board, staff, and teams, versus actual member interests, needs, and values, that will highlight membership engagement gaps, as well as gaps within your organizations industry next-gen talent practices.
This report also includes benchmarking comparing associations in your region, globally, and in your industry.
Many surveys ask association, AMS, and AMC executives to share their observations on membership, but clearly, these efforts offer a limited perspective.
What about the members? Where are their voices in all of this?
Rarely do we gather research from the actual member perspective, and rarely do we assess our own membership practices. Moreover, we intend to hear from members around the globe representing all organization types and industries, sizes, and geographies.
The research findings will allow associations to accurately assess the current health of their organizations. Then and only then can leaders move forward with confidence, strategically planning where to focus limited resources now for a new path of greater engagement and sustainable membership growth.
The study that will result in the creation of the Global Membership Health Matrix 2022 is being led by Sarah Sladek — renowned membership research strategist. As a leading principal for the global membership study, she will be utilizing her team of talent, resources, and services to lead research under each of her Membership University and XYZ University company brands.
Sarah designed this annual benchmarking study to deliver a highly anticipated and much-needed outcome to finally provide associations with an accurate and current understanding of membership health.
Using the wisdom culled from two decades of membership research, this study will effectively measure the membership performance and perceived membership value against the actual needs of today’s multi-generationally diverse membership and industry workplace communities.
